I am an educator, with more than 20 years of experience in teaching and training, in person and online. More than a professional choice, teaching is a passion for me. Being able to help people achieve their goals is what I enjoy doing most in life.
I believe that making mistakes is part of learning and that the feeling of overcoming difficulties is extremely rewarding.
The natural result of all the accumulated experience was this book that results from the request of many of my students to gather and publish the materials that I created and that I use in my classes.
In order to allow the student to adapt to the Portuguese language in a progressive and natural way, I structured a course with five modules of four classes each, following the sequence that I consider most appropriate for students to understand how it works and with a final global test. The themes distributed by the modules and deepened in each class have as their main objective to provide the reader with the necessary knowledge to understand simple conversations in Portuguese and make themselves understood to solve everyday situations in Portugal.
Some of the specific objectives are: Communicate on a daily basis; use time expressions, give personal information; characterize physically and psychologically; identify common vocabulary related to spaces and situations of daily life; to know aspects of the Portuguese reality and culture.
It is suitable for those who:
– Want to learn official European Portuguese.
– Want to learn the basics of one of the most widely spoken languages in the world.
– You live or want to live in one of the 10 countries where Portuguese is the official language, and this is not your mother tongue.
– You already have some knowledge of the language, but you would like to develop your ability to communicate in Portuguese for personal or professional reasons.
Each chapter of the book corresponds to a class of the course and is its transcription. Each lesson deals with a theme and the materials used can vary from text, tables with vocabulary, grammar explanations, exercises with solutions, reproductions of illustrative images and short video animations that can be accessed on YouTube through the links provided.
In order to facilitate understanding, I decided to integrate the translation into the book itself and chose the English language because it is the one spoken by most of my students. We can say that this book, due to its bilingual format, is a friend that is always there to accompany the reader/student on their learning journey.
